If your destination country is a member of the Hague Convention of 1961, then you must contact the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. and request an apostille for your document. If you are moving to a non-member country, you will work with the State Department in Washington, D.C. as well as the country’s Embassy or Consulate.
